CPUSetter is intended to help you tweak your machine’s hardware to meet particular demands or solve certain problems. It lets you decide how many CPU cores should remain active. Likewise, the tool allows adjusting hyperthreading provide your CPU supports it. Since messing with your hardware adjustments can cause physical damage to your system, it is strongly recommended that you consult the accompanying help documentation prior to making any change.
The application is very light and its interface is quite straightforward. Thus, to limit the number of active CPU cores, you can easily drag a slider from the main window; but, before that, you need to give it administrative privileges. Similarly, there are buttons linking to other windows, which let you monitor system activity, check running processes and view system stats.
All in all, CPUSetter may come in handy for such purposes as managing security issues, avoiding bugs, reducing power consumption and adjusting to license requirements. The main drawback of this tool is that does not support limiting the number of CPU cores available for specific processes. The product is free to use but donations are encouraged.
