StatsWidget is intended to provide you with quick access to various system stats. In this respect, the tool allows monitoring CPU and memory usage as well as used disk space and network activity. The application is very unobtrusive and runs in the background. If you need to take a glance at the stats, you can do it from the Notification Center.

The app has a beautiful and compact design, so you do not need to open various windows to find what you are looking for. The levels of usage of your system’s CPU, memory and disk are shown graphically as percentage. Network activity is divided into incoming and outcoming connections and appears in kilobytes per second. As a result, it is easy to see how much of the resources are being used at a given moment. Besides, there is an opportunity to customize colors by means of the Meter Color Editor, which is available as an in-app purchase, and surprisingly, costs more than the main app itself.

Compared with other similar tools, there are a lot of things StatsWidgets cannot do. Just to mention a few examples, this tool does not show activity of different CPU cores separately. Likewise, it cannot tell you what applications are making the most use of your CPU. Moreover, it cannot collect temperature stats, let alone issue alerts when a given threshold is surpassed. As to disk usage, it cannot provide a report of the biggest files on your system. Similarly, it cannot help you free memory at a given moment. The tool does not show any info about battery use whatsoever. Finally, it cannot keep statistics of the behavior of the parameters over time.

All in all, StatsWidgets shows you compact information about various system parameters. The product is available from the Mac Store. However, before purchasing it, you may want to take a look at other similar tools.
