Movie Explorer is a program designed for Mac users who wish to catalog their favorite films with ease. With its help, you can organize your movies based on their genres or rating, identify detailed information regarding your videos, find duplicated clips, and much more.
Once you import the directory that contains your movies, the application starts scanning the folder location and reveals the found video files in a list. You can always add more entries and movie groups.
The application lets you sort your videos into groups, use the built-in search utility for the movie you wish to watch, send duplicates to Trash. What's more, it provides you with a quick way to watch your favorite movies in your default video player (just right-click an item and click the Play button).
Unfortunately, the program comes with many disadvantages. For starters, it occasionally runs slow and fails to identify the correct movie info. Furthermore, it doesn't provide you with an option to back up your catalog or sync it across a Cloud service account.
Another thing that bothers me is that not all of its features are available for free. You need to make an in-app purchase in order to unlock the TV show extension. Hence, unless you make the payment you cannot catalog your favorite TV series.
In conclusion, you can find better solutions for inventorying your movie collection. This app comes with too many flaws.
