Instalyrics 1.0

Instalyrics is an application that can find lyrics for your songs. It is a great app for music lovers.

It can detect songs playing on several applications and websites. Currently, there is support for iTunes, YouTube, Spotify, Rdio, Radium, GrooveShark and Last.FM. In the case of the websites, they will only work when they are using them on Safari, Chrome or Camino.

Instalyrics runs as an icon on your Menubar. When you click it with a song playing on your Mac in one of the supported apps or websites, it will carry out a web search for the name of the song. The results will be displayed in a Safari tab. Unfortunately, you can't choose what web browser you want to use to display the results. The lyrics website used is www.azlyrics.com.

I tested this app by listening to music both on iTunes and on YouTube, to see if the app detected both. And, surprisingly, both the songs I was playing on YouTube and those I was playing on iTunes were detected just fine and the lyrics webpage that was opened contained the right lyrics.

I think Instalyrics is a great app. It isn't perfect, though. I would like to be able to see the results in Chrome instead of Safari.
