Info updated on:

GreenChess is a Mac app that enables you to practice your chess playing skills directly from your computer. The game provides you with a wide range of features that might prove to be of good use while training for a chess tournament or trying out new gameplay strategies.

You can customize the appearance of the interface according to your needs, change the gameplay speed, annotate match moves, and so much more. Configuring the app's settings is very simple, even if you're a beginner computer user.

Once the match begins, the clock will start counting down the time you spend making your chess piece move (the clock stops after you finish your move and resumes once it's your turn again). Furthermore, the app will display information about the match on the right side of the interface. You will know which chess pieces were moved and where. This feature might come in handy when building new strategies.

The application comes with two disadvantages: it lacks options to pause and resume the clock and doesn't provide you with a Hint option.

Still, the program is open source. Hence, you have nothing to lose if you decide to give it a try on your Mac.
