This program is a capable download manager designed for Mac users. The application features multi-thread downloading that helps you fetch large files a lot faster, offers you support for FTP, HTTP(S), and SFTP(SSH) protocols, and allows automatic downloading from various file-hosting services.
Even if you haven't worked with this type of application before, you can easily learn how to handle Progressive Downloader. The program provides you with two separate Preferences panels: one is for users who are new with this type of app (a few output settings which you can easily configure) and the latter brings you various advanced options (with settings for mirror search, proxy server, etc.).
Furthermore, the app comes with integrated mirror search. To be more exact, it helps you find other sources for failed downloads.
In my testing, I downloaded a 57MB sound file. The app immediately saved the entire track at the selected folder destination. This proved to me that the program is reliable, fast, and works as intended.
All in all, Progressive Downloader proves to be a reliable solution when it comes to downloading large files on your Mac. Nevertheless, for downloading small files, I'd suggest you to continue using the download manager of your default browser.
