Apple pauses all online sales in Russia Apple pauses all online sales in Russia

Apple has joined a number of companies that pull out of Russia and stop all online sales in this region. These actions follow a slew of global sanctions that the world community sets out on Russia over its conflict with Ukraine.

The company has taken measures a couple of days after Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrainian Prime Minister, had issued a plea to Tim Cook, Apple CEO, and asked the company to halt device sales, restrict App Store access and stop all services and new product export to Russia.

Apple has stopped all official channels and it has implemented safety measures and blocked traffic and live incidents on Apple Maps in Ukraine. Moreover, Apple is doing its best to support its local teams in Ukraine.

Currently, Russian citizens can still access ‌App Store‌, however, the RT News and Sputnik News apps have been eliminated. Also, Apple Pay has been restricted and several Russian banks can't process these payments.

Cook ended his letter suggesting that "this moment calls for unity, it calls for courage, and it reminds us that we must never lose sight of the humanity that we all share".
