Quickly access music and other audio files in the MP3 format on Mac OS X and control the playback by adjusting the volume and speed in the player application providing the basic management options with optimized processing speed. The app is activated with a code.

MacAmp Lite X is a music player for the Mac that is no longer supported. The developers decided to no longer support the application and it can now be downloaded and used for free. I have to admit that I didn't even know this app existed. It obviously was based on the original WinAmp for Windows.

The strengths of this application and those that made WinAmp a great player are that it is light, it is simple, it is minimalistic and it works well. MacAmp Lite X won't use much of your memory. Secondly, it is dead easy to use. You simply add the songs that you want to have in your library, and you can simply double click them to play them. There aren't any complicated libraries, you don't have to setup any scanners or anything like that.

MacAmp Lite X consists of two windows. The main one houses your music playlist, where you go all the songs that you added to the app. You can manage your playlist here and add and remove files. The second window is a mini-player. It allows you to control the music playback, and you can also use it to access files quickly by choosing them from a scrollable drop-down menu. The player will always stay on the top of other applications.

All in all, MacAmp Lite X works like a charm, even though it isn't supported or developed any more. If you miss the old days when WinAmp was the app that everyone wanted, go download it.
