Jubler is an open-source subtitle editing application. This piece of software will allow you to quickly edit text-based subtitles, as well as create, convert and manage new ones.
Jubler can work with a wide range of subtitle formats, such as: Advanced SubStation, SubStation Alpha, SubRip. SubViewer, MicroDVD, MPL2, Spruce DVD Maestro and many more. Supporting so many subtitle formats and having the option to expand them at any time is quite unexpected from such a lightweight program, but it is much appreciated.
You will be able to use different font styles, either for the entire text or even for individual characters. Jubler also allows you to see how the subtitles look in three manners: current frame, waveform preview and waveform listening. What’s great about this application is that you can move and resize the subtitles directly from the interface of the program.
Moreover, you will be able to test and play the subtitles with the movie due to the built-in video player (mplayer). This feature is especially useful since it allows you to edit the subtitles, add a new one or synchronize them in real time while playing the movie. You are provided with a "Spell check" function that coupled with support for dictionary selection will allow you to get the right spelling even for complicated medical or technical terms.
To sum it all up, Jubler is a feature-rich subtitle editor program that somehow makes subtitle editing look easy and entertaining.
