Generate multiple host files and insert their hostnames and IP addresses. Activate, organize and remove your files without using the Terminal app. Perform tests and override external modifications. Configure activation hotkeys, schedule updates of remote files, etc.

Gas Mask is a hosts file manager, intended for editing hosts files and switching between such files.

The editor includes syntax highlighting and it has "find", "substitutions" and "transformations" functions. Errors can be tracked by using syntax highlighting. The "substitutions" section includes "smart copy-paste", "smart links" and "text replacement", for example, and the "transformations" one refers to converting text to lower or to upper case. A "special characters" library is available and also a speech function.

Users can choose for the text to be read out to them by the utility. The program will perform a correct reading of any given text. Local, remote and combined hosts files can be created and hot keys are active for speeding up this process. Where opening hosts files is concerned, it appears that, for unclear reasons, some will not be recognized by the utility, therefore they cannot be opened with it.

Gas Mask is a simple-to-use utility for those who need to work with hosts files, edit them and track down errors that might be present in their syntax.
