FontGenius is a utility that can help you identify the fonts used for writing a text present in a picture.

With the use of recognition technology, it will examine images containing text and match the typefaces from the selected text with a series of fonts they might correspond to. File extensions such as JPEG, PNG and PICT are supported by the utility.
In order for the typefaces to be recognized, image processing is first required. It is recommended to work with black and white images, with the characters in black and the background in white, therefore the utility includes tools for obtaining such an image. Conversion to grayscale can be performed and brightness and contrast can be adjusted, however the auto adjust function can do the processing job well. You will then select the text area that is of interest and you will be asked to type the letters from that area in the case they have originally been written in. By using the "identify font" function, you will then be returned a set of fonts that are possible matches for the ones used in the text. For each returned result, a search can be performed by the utility, either on the MacBook you are working with or on the Internet, in order for you to find and use that font. There will be fonts for which no matches will be found.
Graphic and web designers can find FontGenius to be a useful tool when attempting to identify a font used in a picture.
