Folder Lock is a security application that offers an easy solution to lock and encrypt folders that contain sensitive information. This way, you can be sure that nobody has access to your secret data as they are protected by a custom password you determine. In turn, the password is shielded by a recovery key that includes hard-to-guess characters combination.

If used frequently, you can set the app to launch at login. Optionally, you can enable the status menu icon or the Dock icon, as you consider most convenient. No matter the opening method, using the tool is just as easy. Therefore, the utility allows you to create an empty folder which is encrypted from the very start and consequently, ready to store private information. Also, the app lets you encrypt an existing folder which you can access only with the corresponding password and respectively, it supports decrypting a locked folder for direct access. The tool provides maintenance options for the encrypted folders, meaning that it allows you to change the password and back up or restore the metadata. For situations when you want to permanently remove crucial information, you can use the shredding feature which will help you delete your data so no one can ever recover. However, the shredding may not work from first attempt, but if you try again, you will be successful.

To conclude, Folder Lock takes care of your private information and encrypts under a password the folders that contain files you wish to hide from prying eyes. It is easy to manage and reliable and offers a recovery key in case you forget the primary password.
