ExifRenamer is a renaming application that processes batches of image, sound and video files based on their embedded date-time information. The tool supports multiple file types, including JPG, TIFF, MOV, MP4, M4V, AVI, AIFF, MRW, NEF, CRW, CR2 and THM.
The application has a nice and straightforward interface. It supports dragging and dropping complete folders onto its window, which immediately loads the files they contain. Similarly, you can let the tool rename the files using the default file naming styles or choose any other ready-made preset available. What is more, you can create custom styles using a combination of the original file name, date, time, prefixes, suffixes, auto sequence number and file extension.
Luckily, the tool also supports previewing file names and setting an output folder if so you desire. However, I wish it allowed previewing the names of the whole batch of files instead of needing to confirm one at a time.
All in all, ExifRenamer is an excellent choice when you need to organize your media files. Fortunately, it does not alter the contents of the original files. Instead, it only changes the file names. The product is free to use so there is nothing to lose if you try it.
