Wondershare PDF Password Remover is an app that can remove certain restrictions. The application won't let you open password-protected PDF files unless you have the password, so if that is what you were looking for, you may need to keep on looking.
This application has a very simple graphical user interface. The main window acts as a drop zone. You can drag and drop the files that you want to process to this window and they will be added to the queue. You can process multiple files at once. The demo version only lets you process the first three pages of each document.
To test this app, I created a PDF using Mac OS X Lion's built-in PDF "printer". I added both open and usage restrictions. I provided different passwords for each. When I loaded the file with this application. I was asked to type in the open password. After doing that, the app processed the file and removed both the open restriction and the edition restrictions and saved the processed file in a separate folder. You can optionally configure the application to save files in the same folder as the source file.
Pros
- It works well
- Easy to use
Cons
- It can't remove restrictions to open files if you don't know the password
