Every movie you rent or purchase from the iTunes store is DRM protected. Hence, you cannot transfer it to another device, such as a tablet or mobile phone, for playback.
The application communicates well with the iTunes utility as it gives you access to a list containing all M4V rentals and purchases. All you need to do is to select the input files and output format, choose a destination folder, and let the program get the job done.
The program took almost 10 minutes to convert a 4-minute video. So, you might have to wait a while for the application to convert large movies to the preferred output profiles.
Another thing that bothers me about TunesKit for Mac is the fact that it lacks editing options. For instance, you cannot extract and convert a certain segment from an M4V file. So, the app is quite limited and considering it isn't cheap, it might not be the best solution there is.
Briefly, it's up to you to decide if it's worth buying this application for your Mac or not.
Pros
- Communicates well with iTunes
- Lets you choose from multiple output profiles
- Preserves quality, tags and subtitles
- Fast conversion speed
Cons
- It might take a while to convert large M4V files
- Lacks editing options
I'm using iTunes 12.5, not the latest, but TunesKit appears to work well with it. I think maybe you should make modification to the description there.
Just download the trial version and it worked flawlessly on my Macbook Pro. Both iTunes purchases and rentals can be converted. Great software! I will buy the full version.
