Info updated on:

SteerMouse is a program that gives you access to a wide range of advanced settings for your mouse. This type of utilities prove to be of good use to gamers or anyone who requires more mouse settings than macOS offers by default.

After you install the tool on your Mac, its executable file will be added to your System Preferences panel. So, you would need to launch System Preferences in order to get access to SteerMouse's features. You can alter settings for the cursor, wheel, and buttons of your mouse. Furthermore, you can create individual mouse profiles for your Mac programs. For instance, you can create a mouse profile for a game by altering the buttons and cursor settings according to your needs.

A thing that bothers me is that the program doesn't bring you a quick way to alter the mouse settings. For example, instead of launching System Preferences and looking for the necessary mouse settings, having access to a Menu Bar panel would help you save plenty of time and effort. However, I won't be including this aspect in the Disadvantages category as it's just something doesn't matter too much.

The only important flaw that's worth mentioning is that the program doesn't offer you support for internal trackpads, Apple Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad. So, if you own any of the aforementioned devices, it doesn't worth buying this utility for your Mac. Another program from the same developer supports the aforementioned devices and offers you some useful settings. more
