Snagit is a screen-, window-, or display capture application with built-in editing tools for Mac OS X.
The 50 dollars price tag is certainly somewhat scary at first, given there is a decent screen capture tool available for free on Mac OS, called Grab, but I was quite surprised to see why there is such a hefty price tag for this software. Besides making screenshots, like Grab tool does, the program includes a somewhat powerful editing tool with ability to blur, stamp, erase, and add objects, such as lines, boxes, and to write something with a pen, marker or to use a highlighter. The result can be saved in most popular formats or exported to a PDF file. Right from the program you can upload the picture to a particular website (screencast.com) or to your own FTP server.
An afterthought: the program is great, but I have to take off a point because there is a free alternative - Grab - that does half of what this program does for free. Otherwise, Snagit's editing tool is just super great.
Pros
- Built-in editing tool
Cons
- Cost (there are cheaper alternatives, such as Grab)
This application, though being a good one, feels a bit too pricey for me. I choose to use a bit cheaper alternatives. In all the rest the application is great.
A cool application, that allows to add effects to your screenshots. It is easy to use and quite reliable.
