SmartBackup lets you create customizable backup jobs on your Mac. It allows you to carry out different types of backups that you can later restore.
There are two backup modes: backup and folder-sync backup. The first mode works best for full system backups or to keep a backup of your movies, music, or work files. You can add any folder on your Mac and SmartBackup will create a backup that can later be modified with files that are new or have been modified. This is called an incremental backup. There is also support for archiving, which means that files that have been deleted from the original folders will not be deleted from your backup, at least for some time. There are quite a few presets that you can use to create backups. These add some system and media folders like iTunes files, iPhoto files, Address Book files, etc. to your backups. They can save you some time in finding the files manually.
With SmartBackup, you can even create a bootable clone of your system, if you enter the superuser mode.
