Shelfster was created for Mac users who wish to store their project material in one place. This utility lets you import text content and images, provides you with simple-to-configure settings, and comes with a comprehensive help guide.
All you need to do in order to add research material is go to the main menu of the app, select the type of info you wish to import (text content or image), select the data, and click the Save button. You can add tags, notes, and source info for the uploaded material with just a few clicks.
Unfortunately, the application comes with an important flaw: it doesn't let you log in to your Shelfster account. I entered the credentials for my account correctly yet the utility displayed the "Invalid user or password" message. So, you cannot sync the stored info with your Shelfster account.
Another disadvantage is the fact that this program supports a limited amount of image formats (I managed to import only JPEG, TIFF, and PNG files). Popular formats like GIF, BMP, PSD or PDF aren't supported.
In conclusion, Shelfster isn't a reliable solution for gathering and storing research material. You should look for other Mac applications since this program doesn't work properly.
