Growly Write is a word processor that comes as an alternative to using Mac's TextEdit for creating text documents. The program can be used for writing diary entries, creating work or school-related research material, entering notes, and so much more.
Even though it provides you with more features than TextEdit it doesn't mean that its interface isn't intuitive. Everything is nicely organized and you can easily find the text editing feature you need. What's more, you have access to a built-in help manual which might come in handy if you're new with this type of programs.
Another thing I like about this utility is the fact that it can be used when writing books. You can create a table of contents with just a few clicks, insert chapter breaks, include special characters if needed (arrows, checkmarks, fractions, etc.), uppercase or lowercase a group of words with minimum effort, and so much more.
The program also provides you with built-in tools that prove to be of good use to writers. For example, you have the word counting tool, a spell checker, etc.
The only bad aspect is that Growly Write supports a limited amount of file formats. Still, the compatible text formats are quite popular (TXT, RTF or HTML), hence, they are supported by many word processing tools.
Briefly, Growly Write is a helpful and feature-rich word processing tool for both beginner and professional writers. What's more, it comes without a price tag.
