Secure File Sharing Web Server is a great way to share files with other people. I know first-hand how difficult and frustrating it can be to set up two computers on your home network to share files between each other. The difficulties only increase when the computers are not running the same version of the operating system or even different OSs. This application makes the process incredibly easy, mainly because it doesn't rely on complicated networking protocols that you have to set up manually. You simply need to install this application on one of the computers that you want to use to share files and then the other computers can connect to it using any web browser.
The main configuration window lets you set some basic settings like the port that you want to use, and whether you want the app to start with your Mac. There is also support for guest accounts and log files, all of which is set up in this window. There are other tabs at the top of the screen that let you access other settings like what folders you want to share, the users that you want to allow access to, and some security settings in the form of IP filtering.
When I tested this app, I used the Free version, which is limited to 60 minutes of use. I was able to install, set up and use the app in less than a minute, and other computers on my home network could see the server and log in just fine.
Secure File Sharing Web Server can also be used to share files with users over the Internet. It might work out of the box thanks to its UPnP support. If it does not, you will need to get your hands dirty with some port forwarding.
