OCRKit is a simple Mac utility that enables you to convert printed or scanned documents into editable text files. The application comes with a straightforward interface, supports drag-and-drop actions, and immediately provides you with the editable and searchable documents you need.
Before converting any files you need to configure the output settings from the Preferences panel of the app. The utility lets you choose from the following output formats: PDF, RTF, TXT or HTML.
Once you finish configuring the output settings according to your needs you can start loading the files you wish to convert. You can import documents by going to File->Open File option from the main menu of the program or by using drag-and-drop action (drag the files over its dock icon).
In my testing, the app immediately converted the loaded documents. Unfortunately, there were times when it failed to preserve the layout of the original documents, especially when converting to TXT or RTF formats.
Another thing I didn't like about this program was that it didn't let me import multiple files and convert them at the same time.
In my opinion, you can find better solutions for converting scanned or printed documents to editable text files. There are many document converters which let you choose from a wide variety of output formats, come with built-in OCR technology, and preserve the quality of the input files.
