My Timer is a neat countdown application with a classic design. You can use it to track the time left until an expected moment in the near future – namely, the maximum amount of time the tool can trace is 90 minutes.
With a very simple and rather dull interface, the program allows you to determine the countdown time in minutes only. Setting the desired time is done exclusively by pressing the up and down arrows, which is quite annoying, as far as I'm concerned – therefore, you need to make as many clicks as the number of minutes you want to set, while it would be more comfortable to use the numeric pad on your keyboard.
Once the countdown time has been set, you can enable the timer simply by pressing the "Start" button. The application will display – in real time – the exact time left till your event in minutes and seconds. What is good about this utility is that you can pause the countdown at any moment and resume it later, or you can abort the time you've just tracked and start the process from the beginning, though taking into consideration the period you set in the first place. When the countdown clock reaches zero, a red-colored visual notification informs you that the time is up. If your computer sound is enabled, you will also hear a subtle microwave-like alarm that repeats at every few seconds, until you close the "Time's up" window.
My Timer can be considered a good choice for casual use, mainly because it is free. However, the lack of advanced time settings and additional layouts, the inability to replace the one sound alarm provided or to modify the volume, the severe limitation of the timer to 90 minutes, will make you look for better countdown alternatives.
