Movavi Video Converter 2.8

Movavi Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It allows you to convert video files into a few different video and audio formats.

The supported formats are: AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP4, H.263, H.264, 3GP and FLV for video and MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC and FLAC for audio. This app has a very nice user interface with a video player and support for batch-processing of files. I like that you can choose to convert files for specific devices but also get the option of choosing the format and configuring the process. The devices supported range from iPhones and iPods to Blackberrys and other mobile playback devices.

In my testing, I tried to open an MKV file, but simply clicking the file once added made the app crash. Then I added an AVI file, which was encoded using XviD. When I tried to see if the built-in player could play the file, the app crashed again. I then decided to convert the file, to see if that worked. It took the application 13 minutes to convert a 3-minute file into the iPad H.264 profile. I think that is a bit slow. And Handbrake can tackle that task much faster. I don't want to pass judgment based on a single test. Fortunately, you can download the app yourself and see how it works for you. The only trial limitation is that only half of your files will be converted.
