mi is a text editor especially designed for coders. It offers some of the most popular features that developers look for such as syntax highlight support, multi-document search and tabbed system support as well as a few surprises of its own.

The downside is that most features you will have to discover for yourself as this tool is only currently documented in Japanese.

With the help of side / split panels, users can view the contents (and additional information) of one or even two documents at the same time. At its present release, mi can recognize and highlight the syntax for the following code types: C, CSS, Headers Document, HTML, Java, Lua, Japanese Manuscript, MASM, Perl, SDF, TEX, and TOOLCOMMAND. For some of the above mentioned languages, the utility includes a few code snippets, accessible from the file menu.

A quick glance at the Preferences panel reveals a highly customizable text editor; for each code type (or mode) supported you may change anything from display, syntax, header and keyboard shortcuts. Moreover, users can extend the list of programming languages supported by adding their own set of of mode preferences.

In spite of all its potential, mi still needs improvement; most functions are available only from the file menu (little hotkey support). When side panels are enabled, the layout extends, occupying much of the screen. If however you love customizing your own code editing environment, mi will offer a lot in return.
