Info updated on:

Metronome is an easy-to-use application that is used for helping musicians monitor their musical tempos. It comes with an appealing interface and an easy-to-use menu that grants Mac users quick access to all of the features. The tool comes with support for various languages for tempo names and multiple ways to set up the metronome. The users are allowed to start/stop the metronome through the main interface, which requires clicking on start/stop; the users can also use the “enter” or “space” keys to start/stop the metronome, making it more easy to use while playing an instrument. This feature-rich application also provides a tempo finder, a timer and an accelerator, tools that increase the applicability of the program. The accelerator allows users to accelerate the tempo at various times. The timer allows Mac users to set up specific amounts of time for sessions, in order to keep a better track of their progress. The tempo can be increased or decreased either by predefined amounts of time, either fully manual by moving the cursor up and down the tempo line.

Briefly, you should give Metronome a try; it is free, it comes with a simple interface and provides precise measuring of the beats per seconds (bps).

My favorite metronome (and I tried many...). You can use your own sounds which I find a very useful thing. I hope there will be a 64-bit version for newer OS!
