MakeMKV is a smart program that allows you to covert DVD to MKV. Basically, this application converts encrypted files to a set of MKV files.

The MKV format can store multiple chapters so the video and the audio tracks can be played in a similar way as for the DVDs. MakeMKV can also read Blu-ray disks and apply to them the same settings as you can apply to DVDs.

When you insert a disk into MakeMKV, the program will show you the name of the disk, the label and the level of protection.

MakeMKV provides two DVD protection removal modes: CellWalk and CellTrim. You can select which one you want to use or you can select "auto" and the program will select the proper one.

When you extract a video from a DVD, you are able to select some options for the output such as: the lenght of the title, the interface language, the preferred language and the read-buffer size.

This application also provides information about the DVD-ROM of your Mac such as the producer, the model and the revision.

MakeMKV is a powerful program that proves to be very helpful when it comes to converting DVDs to MKV files.
