Lost Photos is an application that lets you search for photos from your e-mail accounts. It supports Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, MobileMe (.Me), and a few other e-mail services.
During the search process, a progress bar will show you how many e-mails have been searched for and how many images have been found. You can preview these images in real time and share them to Facebook or Twitter or e-mail them.
Before the search starts, you can set some filtering options that will let you ignore images based on a few criteria, including size, date and file type. You can only exclude GIF images from the search, though. Unfortunately you can't choose what file types you do want to search for and that would be a great feature.
The search process isn't as fast as I would like it to be. In 10 or so minutes, the app managed to look for images in only 400 e-mails, only finding a single picture. If you use your e-mail account a lot, the process can be lengthy.
Nevertheless, I like the idea behind Lost Photos and how the application performs. Looking for pictures by hand could probably take weeks, and Lost Photos automatizes the process quite a lot.
Pros
- Nice idea
- Good-looking interface
- Some filtering options
- It works rather well with most e-mail providers
Cons
- It could have better filtering options
- Slower than it could be
