Info updated on:

Gmail Notifr is a Google Mail notification system for your Mac. It is an open-source application that allows you to regularly check for new mail on multiple Gmail accounts at once. It runs on your MenuBar, where it displays a different icon according to the state of your accounts. You can add as many accounts as you want from the 'Preferences' window and you can even add hosted Gmail accounts.

The application doesn't tell you instantly when you have new e-mails. By default, it is configured to check for new e-mail every 5 minutes. The great thing about the app is that you can customize how often you want to check for e-mails from every single account that you add. I would love it, if I could get notifications right away. Regarding notifications, Gmail Notifr supports Growl, so it can display notifications using that notification system. You can also customize what sound is played when you get an e-mail for each one of your accounts.

Gmail Notifr worked well for me. It was easy to install and set up.
