Get Plain Text is a Mac utility that might prove to be of good use if you need to easily and quickly strip your texts of font style, hyperlinks or images.

The application is very simple to handle, uses a very small amount of the available CPU resources, and is available in various languages.

The utility lives on your Menu Bar from where you can access its simple-to-configure settings. You can enable the auto-formatting option (the app will automatically "clean" up any piece of text you copy to your clipboard), configure the app to launch as soon as your OS X loads, etc.

All you need to do is copy the text you wish to strip of any unnecessary data (font style, hyperlinks, etc.) and program will do the rest. Afterwards, you can paste the cleaned up text within your default browser or other Mac tools.

My only issue with this program is that it occasionally fails to preserve the original text arrangement. I tested the app's capabilities with a long piece of text containing a colored and bold-styled font and plenty of paragraph spacing. The program preserved the text content, but failed to keep the original spacing layout. However, this is an issue only if you copy long pieces of text to your clipboard.

Even though the aforementioned aspect might prove to be an important disadvantage in some cases, I still think the program is worth a shot, especially since it's free of charge.
