This Menu Bar application helps you strip any text you copy to your clipboard of unneeded formatting like font style, size, color, hyperlink, and many others.

You can work with this program whenever you wish to copy information from your default browser and paste it within a text editor or email.

Get Plain Text doesn't provide you with an actual interface. Instead, you have access to a panel which can be accessed by clicking the app's icon from the Menu Bar. From there, you can configure the program's settings according to your needs.

I like the fact that the utility also offers you an option to automatically clear formatting of any copied text. This way, you won't need to go to Menu Bar to select the app's option to transform the copied text.

Another good aspect is that the application enables you to define a global hotkey to immediately strip any copied text of color, style, size, hyperlinks, etc.

Other than that, not much more can be said about this program. It does exactly what's being stated on the homepage of the developer, doesn't slow down your Mac in the process, and comes without a price tag. Hence, I can't find any harm in trying this app if you ever need to clear formatting of any selected text.
