Evernote is a complete note taking application that is incredibly useful. It allows you to write as many notes as you want and store them on the Evernote servers.
Evernote does not only allow you to store text notes. You can also upload photos, sound recordings, and even entire web pages. Evernote has web browser integration, which allows it to make it easy for you to add an entire web page or a part of it to Evernote as a note, which will then by synched across all your Evernote apps. This is a great feature for when you want to save a webpage for later reading or when you find a product that you want and don't want to forget about it. At least that is what I used the web clipper for.
The Mac version of this app allows you to create photo notes straight from the application. There is a button at the top that reads "iSight note" which activates your camera and lets you take a picture.
Although Evernote is a free app, there is a premium version of the service, which has great features, especially for students. One of those features allows you to take a photo of text on a blackboard, for example, and have Evernote do the transcription for you.
