calibre is an e-book manager designed for Mac. You can use this program to organize your electronic book collection, convert your favorite e-books to various file formats, find and edit their metadata, and much more.
This open source application works with a wide variety of e-book formats, such as EPUB, HTML, LRF, LIT, MOBI, CBZ, ODT, and many others. You can import individual files and directories containing multiple e-books. Once the app loads the selected data, you can start fetching metadata info, change the covers of your e-books, send electronic books to your media device (iPhone, tablet, etc.), etc.
Another great thing about this utility is that it provides you with a quick and easy solution for getting rid of incompatibility issues between your e-books and the apps or devices you're using for reading them. The program lets you choose between a wide range of output formats which are compatible with Kindle devices, smartphones, tablets, etc. It preserves the original layout of the input files and takes just a few moments to convert the selected e-books.
Furthermore, the app comes with a powerful search tool. You can use it to find e-books related to an item within your library, fetch info regarding your electronic books, etc.
The one thing that doesn't seem to be working 100% is the ability to grab metadata info. It occasionally fails to collect the correct information from the Web.
Still, calibre is one of the best e-book managers I tested on my Mac. It provides you with many useful features, is very simple to handle, and comes without a price.
