Search for specific data items and view descriptions and parameter data. Integrate the utility with the main Finder client and control the quick and advanced search functions via hotkeys and standard interface elements. Control and cancel the search process.

XRay is a flexible and powerful "Get Info" program for Mac OS X (10.2 and up). Access via Command-Shift-X, the Finder's contextual menu, icon drag&drop or the Services menu. Will accept third-party plugins for feature expansion. Features: Integrated file browser View/change Type, Creator and Extension metadata and have immediate feedback on how they affect file-to-application binding Type, Creator and Extension lists are loaded from the system's own databases, so you don't need to build or maintain anything Set options by dropping a sample file or application onto the window Change permissions, type, creator and some flags, or remove resource forks for all items in folders View/change common and obscure BSD permissions View folder sizes View/follow/change/make aliases and symbolic links Edit creation/modification dates Edit Finder "labels" attribute See format and interface for volumes See detailed application or file type Uses Administrator authorization if necessary Generate reports Move files to the Trash and empty it with privileges On-line version checking
