TripMode 2.0

TripMode is a utility created for people who wish to easily prevent their apps from accessing the Internet. It might come in handy while you're in a restaurant or any other location where you're connected a hotspot.

Sometimes, your Mac apps might access the Internet without you knowing and dramatically increase your bills. One solution comes from this app. This program lives on your Menu Bar from where you can choose which utilities to stay connected to the Internet or not.

Once the blocking options of the application is enabled, TripMode will display a list of all running tools that are using the Internet. It will also reveal the current Internet data usage per running app.

In my testing, TripMode displayed accurate info in its main menu. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the Settings panel. This menu appeared to be blank, with no configurations available whatsoever. And since you cannot see what settings can be changed or are available, the list of disadvantages could be pretty long. For example, the app lacks the ability to define a global hotkey for immediately turning on or off its blocking option. Furthermore, you don't have access to the ability to add or remove apps from the main menu list.

Hence, you should try a different utility for blocking your Mac applications from accessing the Internet.
