This app helps you change the one-hour backup interval of Time Machine.

Time Machine is a backup utility provided by default on Apple Mac OS X machines. Unfortunately, this app lacks options to set the desired interval of time for the backup process (it backs up data every hour only).

TimeMachineEditor helps you solve this issue by allowing you to schedule backups at any interval of time you like.

The first thing you need to do before configuring TimeMachineEditor settings is to open System Preferences menu and select the OFF option from the Time Machine panel. Afterwards, you can choose the preferred backup scheduling mode (When Inactive, Interval, and Calendar Intervals).

Personally, I prefer selecting the third backup scheduling type (Calendar Intervals). You can choose on which days of the month and at what interval of time to start the back up of your local drives.

Another important advantage is that you don't need to run TimeMachineEditor all the time. This app automatically triggers Time Machine backups when you want them to occur.

The one thing I don't like about this app is that the When Inactive feature requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later. Hence, people with older OS X versions cannot enable this backup scheduling mode.

To sum things up, I'd say it's worth installing this program on your Mac especially since it's free of charge. The app does exactly what it was designed for by the developers.
