Tegan is a free of any charge video converter for Mac OS X 10.6 or later. The application is Universal, meaning it can be used on both 32 and 64 bit processors.

In essence Tegan should be used to convert any source into the Apple supported format, including iDevices format.

Once in a while you come across a video that you would like to watch on your Apple computer or an iDevice, but it is just not working. The video file is using some compression codec that is unknown to your playback device. The only solution to this problem is converting that file into one of the Apple's native audio/video format. There are many programs out there on the market that can do it, but not that many that are simple. Tegan is an extremely easy-to-use application for converting files between the formats. There are no endless options and menu screens to go through just to convert a file so you can watch your file faster than if you were using another application for conversion.

Tegan's interface is very simplistic. A simple window that allows you to choose which format a file should be converted into and should the subtitles be included into the converted video. Further, you just drop the file into the designated area and wait for the file to be converted.

The quality of the converted file is decent. It took some time for an .avi file to be converted into .mp4, but the wait was worth it. Overall, the best feature of this program is that it is absolutely free and it is definitely worth having it in your app list.
