Tank Ace 1944 is a 3D tank action game for the Mac. The game puts you in command of a tank during several battles against enemy armies. Your goal is to kill all the enemies on each level. There is a catch, though. You only have a certain number of cannon rounds and limited fuel. So you have to aim just right to complete the levels. If you run out of fuel, sink in water or are destroyed, you are forced to retreat to your capitol. If you destroy all the enemies on the level, you claim that territory yours and move forward to attack other territories.
The game features 3D graphics, but they are not the best graphics you have seen. I don't think you would be wrong to compare the graphics with a Playstation 2 game. The game controls are not the best either. You move the tank with the arrow keys, but there doesn't seem to be a button for reverse. You shoot the cannon with the space bar. Aiming is hit and miss, because there is no way to calculate shots.
There is a trial version of this game that you can run from your web browser, because it is made in Java. You can also download the file and play it on your computer.
