With StreamRipperX you can record Internet audio streams and save them on your hard disk. Users may add stream links with drag-and-drop actions or input them manually. The utility includes a selection of audio genres but no sample stream URLs as you usually get with similar applications. You can use the iTunes streams, drag and drop them into StreamRipperX and start recording by pressing the cogwheels icon.
One important feature is the ability to automatically detect the beginning and ending of individual tracks based on the data that the radio station sends. StreamRipperX also comes with a very convenient solution for times when several of your favorite radio shows run at the same time as you can record all of them simultaneously.
If your network connection has ISP limitations, the utility allows to use a proxy in order to bypass possible restrictions.
StreamRipperX offers some nice features but does not raise to the standards of other modern radio downloaders. The application has a robust and intuitive interface that offers a simple management solution for your favorite radio stations. It has no recording scheduler, can only save output in the MP3 format and does not detect the playback of streams in other applications (for instance iTunes).
