Star VPN helps you browse the web anonymously. It is a client application powered by Star VPN, which allows encrypting data traffic between your computer and the outside world. The tool looks very much like other apps in the family. Just like many others, it is very easy to use. By simply clicking on a button, a virtual private network is started. Likewise, you are allowed to choose a country.

The quality largely depends on what the supported service has to offer. One of the first aspects to consider is security. In this regard, Star VPN is definitely not the most secure of its type. Although there is not much information available as to protocols, it seems that it does not support OpenVPN, one of the most reliable. Likewise, it does not come with a killswitch to avoid possible leaks if the connection gets suddenly down.

It is also essential to consider the service provider’s policy regarding user privacy. It is good that they do not collect any personal information. Besides, they promise not to keep logs of your activities. With an average-sized network, Star VPN has servers distributed in 20 countries. However, it does not seem to be able to bypass Netflix’s restrictions. Connecting through a VPN may have an impact on connection speeds, particularly when the servers are not located near the user’s point of access. In this regard, speed is not reduced significantly.

In general, Star VPN is a small app that you can use to benefit from a casual VPN connection. While Star VPN services may occasionally solve some types of problems, like evading local IP rules, it is not recommended as your default VPN provider. Luckily, it can be used at no cost. Moreover, if you need extra features, you can upgrade to a Premium account.
