SomaFM Radio Player 1.1

The SomaFM desktop Mac app provides playback and song history for SomaFM Internet radio channels, as well as community news and social media links.

Users can mark stations and songs with stars to designate them as favorites, making them easily accessible within the application later on.

SomaFM is an Internet music service which is entirely user-supported, such that the only ads on air are for SomaFM itself. The stations available through the application span a variety of genres with an emphasis on ambient and alternative music. A worldwide listener count for each is tracked and displayed, enabling the user to see each channel's relative popularity. The most popular is Groove Salad, which mostly features moderately paced lounge music, perfect for playing in the background while working (until the occasional, inevitable foray into a song with irritatingly experimental vocal samples). But other stations are worth to be listened too - SF 10-33, for example, mixes ambient music in real-time with live police radio traffic, creating a surprisingly calming yet unpredictable listening experience.
