Snap is a very useful application launcher for the Mac. This little app will create keyboard shortcuts for the first nine applications in your dock.

This is done automatically, and it can be used upon Snap's first launch. The default hotkey for the first app on your dock is Cmd + 1, then the second is Cmd + 2, and so on for the first 9 apps from left to right. Snap also gives you quick access to Finder, with a predefined hotkey (Cmd+`). This hotkey didn't work on my USB keyboard, but it did on the integrated one and a bluetooth Apple keyboard.

From the settings menu, you can customize a bit how Snap works. For example, you can disable the auto-assignment of shortcuts to the apps in the dock or change the dock shortcut modifiers, to use the Option key instead of the Command key, for example. Snap also allows you to add any other .app file on your system and assign a shortcut to it. Another way in which Snap is really useful is that it lets you hide windows with the same shortcuts that you press to launch them. If you repeat the shortcut for an app that is already running, it will be hidden.

All in all, Snap gives you shortcuts that you can easily remember and figure out for your Dock apps, but it also allows you to set keyboard shortcuts for any app running on your system. It is an excellent tool to cut down on the time that you spend using your mouse. At only $0.99, it is also very affordable.
