SixtyFour is a memory optimizing tool designed to improve your system's performance by forcing 64-bit applications to be launched in 32-bit mode. This way, powerful memory consumers will also run on Mac computers that are short on RAM.
The program provides a simple and easy-to-use interface so that anyone can manage the app with ease even if the system processes need more time than you've expected. When launching the utility, you are provided with a list of all applications that can be opened in 32-bit mode. Each app can be checked for extra information, like its architecture, platform, and bundle version (by means of a new Quick Look plug-in). Another novelty of SixtyFour is that its last version has a useful feature – ProcessTimer, the option meant to help you determine whether you can run specific apps in 32-bit mode or not. Once you finished selecting the programs you wish to run in “lowered” mode, the search filters available in the drop-down menu offers to put the applications into two separate lists, based on their already-established bit running mode. You are able to browse the lists manually by means of a vertical slider or identify a specific app by using the handy search box. However, you can enable the SixtyFour Agent to notify you about the bit mode of an application when launched. Obviously, if you notice dysfunctions with some of the bit-decreased programs, you can easily uncheck them and leave them run in their original 64-bit mode.
