RemoteSight 1.1

RemoteSight is a web server for sending audio and video data packages. The application is best used for surveillance purposes and can be configured and accessed via a remote network location under a web interface. It includes the ability to monitor and stream the contents of your own desktop as well as web camera input.

With this tool you will also be able to provide live desktop tutorials or presentations to other members of your network environment.

Surprisingly enough, this is a web server that is very easy to install and configure. From the program's menubar icon you may activate and deactivate the server and quickly bring up its interface which will open in the default browser. I have noticed that by opening two web interfaces, I could stream both the contents of the desktop as well as web camera output simultaneously.

RemoteSight features support the built-in Mac camera (iSight) or any other plugged-in video camera. The program includes a few customization settings like restricting access via a username and password input (for basic and admin accounts), the ability to add text overlay to video output. Once users have connected to the server, there is little you can do however to get rid of them but only view their account address and account.

For streaming or presentation purposes, RemoteSight works very well on its own. If used as a surveillance tool, the application should also be accompanied by a stream recorder. Please note that version 1.0.4 may be tested for free for a 30-day period but the latest one (1.1) requires purchasing.
