ProtonVPN is a client application that allows you to browse the web using a VPN connection. It is also the name by which the VPN service is known. Like other similar services, the idea behind using a VPN is to create a sort of virtual tunnel to transfer data in such a way that it is hard to intercept by a third party. Thus, it lets you bypass geographical restrictions or access blocked websites.
The client has an easy-to-use interface, so much so that it is unlikely that you have any difficulty to use it. You just need to provide your authentication data and choose the desired country. It is also possible to create profiles to avoid configuring it all over again. One of the things users usually look for in a VPN service is the location of their servers. In this respect, ProtonVPN currently has 628 servers spread in 44 countries. However, it does not provide any information about the servers’ current speeds and usage.
But the client is just a client and what is most important is the service it supports. In this respect, it is good to know that ProtonVPN uses a unique Secure Core architecture to protect the identity of the users, which is based on routing traffic through several servers. What is more, those servers are located in countries with strict privacy laws, which minimizes the risk that the company may share your data with third parties. In fact, they claim they keep no logs of your activities. more
