PreferenceCleaner 1.5

PreferenceCleaner is an application whose purpose is to help users to delete preference files. For example, one reason for the wish to manage these files is that preference files can sometimes become corrupt and, therefore, cause the app or OS components to be unstable.

At other times, given that a large number of preferences can be set for an application, it will be more difficult to identify a setting that enables an unwanted behavior than to delete preference files.
The user interface consists of three tabs: "Application Preferences", "System Preferences" and "Syntax Checker". The first aims at selecting applications of interest and fine tuning their list of preferences. Using the "System Preferences" tab, users are able to access a list of system components and delete the preferences files of the ones that might cause problems. The developers suggest that caution is used when making selections of operating system components, since these components will be reset to their factory default settings. The "Syntax Checker" will check “plist” files for syntax errors. The results of this check are not guaranteed.
