An Optix Server is at the heart of each Optix system. It's function is to securely manage your document repositories and respond to user requests.

Optional add-on server modules provide Workflow, Web Access, Text Search, Automated Mail and Fax functions, and COLD/ERM. The Optix Server interacts seamlessly with your selected database management system to maintain document index records and critical system administrative data.

An Optix Server can be configured for any size system. We install and support systems from five person small office installations to enterprise deployments encompassing thousands of users.

Your Optix system will be hardware efficient. Unlike some EDMS vendors, most Optix systems need only a single physical server, regardless of the add-on modules you select. Everything is in one place and easy to administer.

Optix relies on proven RDBMS solutions. The RDBMS is used to securely manage your repositories and critical administrative data. We support Oracle, Informix, Sybase, SQL Server, and Firebird.

Optix is secure. In addition to enforcing standard OS security for users, Optix can use Access Control Lists (ACLs) to fine tune exactly who can perform certain activities and the documents they can access.

Optix tracks user activities. Optix logs all significant user actions including all activities that result in document additions, deletions, and modifications. Use our built-in reports or create your own using third party tools.

Optix has flexible licensing. Optix can be licensed based on concurrent users (CULs) or named seats. When using CULs, Optix can silently free up licenses after a configurable period of client inactivity.

Optix runs on your hardware. Optix not only runs on Windows, but also on Sun/Solaris, IBM/AIX, Linux, and Mac OS X.

Optix eases administrative tasks. Optix is delivered with a set of applications to assist you in managing users, repositories, and storage. Create new users and groups and assign specific permissions to each, defining exactly who can access which repository, queue, and workflow route. Pre-configure storage volumes or move repositories from volume to volume. Set up flexible retention periods and enforce them using the supplied retention tools.
