Lux Delux is a strategy game based on the board game Risk. I have only recently played the board game for the first time, and I absolutely loved how strategic it can be. Lux Delux did a great job of bringing the board game onto the Mac, Windows and Linux. The thing I like about it the most is how fluidly the game plays. If you have ever played Risk or any of its variants, you probably know how long those games can be.
The rules are very similar. You start with a set number of armies and countries are randomly assigned to you when the game begins. It is up to you to decide where you want to place those enemies. When the game begins, you can attack other countries to conquer them, or play defensively and try to fortify your positions. After your turn, all the other players will play, and after each round, you are given a card. When you get three cards, you can cash them in for extra armies. That is basically how the game is played, but keep in mind that strategy plays a great role here. It is not only about amassing as many armies as you can.
Lux Delux comes with a great number of maps and eleven different AI opponents. The game can also be played on the network or Internet against real players. There are even leaderboards available.
The trial version of this game lets you play 30 complete games, which is enough for you to determine if you like the game or not. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes strategy games and of course to Risk players.
