Live Home 3D is intended for designing both interiors and exteriors of a home. The app lets you design in two different modes: 2D and 3D.

This possibility allows you to use it to design floor plans, room interiors and landscapes. Similarly, this tool can generate augmented reality experiences, like guided walks inside the intended home.

Most of the main window is devoted to previewing your work. As said before, two main modes are supported 2D and 3D. Moreover, you can switch to a split mode, in which you can see the changes you make to the floor plan immediately reflected in the 3D model.

Fortunately, there are templates and prebuilt elements you can use. For instance, you can start from the template of a room and then modify it to meet the exact measures. Similarly, there are more than 1200 different elements, such as doors, windows, gates, stairs and furniture. Besides, should you need more, it is good news the app supports importing them from the Trimble 3D Warehouse website.

Live Home 3D can create realistic views thanks to its support of textures, materials and lights. For such purpose, there is the Inspector. Again, there are limitless color variants as well as multiple textures and materials you can apply to the selected object. Besides, you can move lights and cameras to the desired positions. It is also great that you can really add terrain features and use real photographs of the site.

Once you have finished your work, you can proceed to export it in various picture formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF and BMP. However, for a more realistic feeling, you can decide to generate 360° panorama JPEG images instead.

Compared with other similar CAD tools, Live Home 3D lacks those features intended for project management, like generating bills of materials and managing associated documents. What is more, this Standard version does not support some of the features that are present in the Pro version.

All in all, Live Home 3D can be used by the homeowners who want to remodel their house. For them, it can become a very useful tool to show the contractors what they really want. Also, it can be used to try different arrangements for your furniture before you actually move them. Likewise, architects and designers can use this tool to present different ideas to their customers.

The product is available directly from the developer’s website and the Mac Store as well. Luckily, there is a trial version available for you to explore its features. And, as said, there is a Pro version, too.
