Limbo is a great puzzle and platform game for multiple platforms. It has recently been released for Mac OS X, but it is also available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
The first thing you will notice about Limbo is that it is very dark. The levels are all designed in black and white, which helps to set the atmosphere designed by the creators. The game feels like a bad dream. You control a little boy who has to walk through forests and escape from several different types of life forms, including giant spiders and aliens. Not much is said about the story until you play the game for yourself. I will not spoil it for you, though.
There are many different gameplay elements in the game. There are different puzzles in which you have to grab objects and re-arrange them to make your way through a level, and there are also physics-based puzzles more at the end of the game.
Limbo is best played with high volume and in a dark room. I haven't seen such a frightening game in a long time.
In short, Limbo is a great game that has a very dark mood and lots of puzzles. It is an instant classic.
Pros
- Ultra-stylized graphics
- Unique atmosphere
- Intuitive controls
- Innovative gameplay
- Lots of puzzles
Cons
- Lack of proper saves
A very impressive game. You cannot say before trying it whether it will capture your attention till you finish the game; but it has all the chances to do it with its unusual design and atmosphere. I truly enjoyed it.
An interesting and challenging game, which is at least as enjoyable as World of Goo. It is different in style, but leaves a similar feeling of joy when you beat it.
I've seen this game on my friend's computer and took several moves in it. It is very unusual and dark. When you start playing you get fully involved. The only minor inconvenience here is that it is commercial and there is no way, unless with the help of your friend who has it, to test it before buying.
